Prerequisites:  No experience necessary. Even if you have some canoe experience, it is good to get a refresher on your canoe strokes and spend time on the water to refresh your skills and start from the beginning. We will take you from flatwater to whitewater paddling in one weekend.

Cancellation Policy:  If you need to cancel or withdraw, you can have a refund minus a $45 admin fee 2 weeks before the start date.  No refund within 2 weeks of the start date.

Itinerary:

June 14: We will meet in Youth Farm Bible Camp (YFBC) at Rosthern, SK at 8am and travel together to the Devil Lake put-in (about 4 hours).   To find us: https://www.yfbc.ca/contact

Please pack a lunch for the drive from home or we can also stop in La Ronge for a bite to eat on our way through if you wish to purchase something. We will travel to Devil Lake and put on the water after lunch.  From there, we will paddle to Barker Lake and find a great campsite to stay for 2 nights.  We will focus on learning and refining our canoe strokes on the flatwater.

June 15: We will have a full day of learning and practicing eddy turns, forward ferries and work our way up one of the whitewater channels. We may even get to try surfing at Surf City.

June 16:  We will spend the morning at another spot applying what we have learned and continue to practice our river maneuvers.  After an early lunch we will head back to our vehicles through one of the whitewater channels.  If the weather is favorable, we will end with running the famous Otter Rapids.  We will drive back to Rosthern and will stop for a quick bite to eat along the way.  We aim to be back in Rosthern around 7pm.
